ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems. It defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving a Quality Management System (QMS) focused on customer satisfaction.
Currently in effect in its 2015 version, it is based on seven management principles and structures the organization around a process-based approach and a risk management framework, applicable to any organization regardless of its size or sector.
The certification is issued by a COFRAC-accredited body following a two-phase audit. It is valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits to ensure continuous improvement.
Every year, hundreds of companies embark on a quality improvement initiative only to fail or get bogged down. Here’s why.
Without a structured approach, certification projects drag on for 12 to 18 months, tying up internal teams that are already stretched thin.
ISO 9001 requires procedures, records, and evidence. Producing documentation that is useful and relevant—rather than just filler—is a delicate task.
This is the core of the standard. If not properly implemented, it leads to non-conformities during the audit and calls the entire quality management system into question.
The standard covers governance, HR, production, procurement, sales, and more. Getting every department on board with the initiative without the necessary expertise is an ongoing challenge.
Between the certification body, service providers, and internal time, the budget can quickly spiral out of control. Without an initial framework, surprises are inevitable.
Obtaining the certificate is just the beginning. Annual surveillance audits and continuous improvement require ongoing management of the QMS.
Our agile approach turns these challenges into manageable steps. A dedicated project manager guides you through each milestone, simply and efficiently.

All you need to know about ISO 9001
ISO 27001 is intended for all organizations, regardless of their size or industry: microbusinesses, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-sized companies, large corporations, and government agencies. It is particularly relevant for industrial companies, service providers, software publishers, healthcare providers, construction companies, or any supplier wishing to demonstrate its ability to deliver a product or service that meets customer expectations.
The cost of certification can vary widely, but the costs can be broken down as follows:
• Certification body audit (between €10,000 and €15,000) over 3 years,
• Time required for internal implementation,
• External support for implementation and audits (€15,000).
These costs must be weighed against the direct and indirect business benefits:
• Direct: market access and contract awards
• indirect: competitive advantage, customer trust, and improved performance
The duration depends on your current level of readiness, the complexity of your processes, and the size of your organization. As a general rule, thorough preparation takes between 6 and 12 months.
The QMS (Quality Management System) is the core framework required by ISO 9001. It encompasses the processes, procedures, resources, metrics, and tools used to manage the quality of the products or services delivered to your customers. It is based on a process-oriented approach and risk and opportunity management, and aimsfor continuous performanceimprovement.
No. ISO 9001 certification is valid for three years, with mandatory annual surveillance audits. At the end of the three-year period, a renewal audit is conducted. This cycle ensures continuous improvement and maintains the value of the certification over time. FeelAgile offers ongoing support to help you prepare for each milestone with confidence.
A QMS management tool allows you to centralize quality documentation, automate the tracking of nonconformities and corrective actions, streamline internal audits and management reviews, and monitor performance metrics. Without a dedicated tool, quality management relies on scattered files that are difficult to maintain. Our platform Oversecur is designed specifically to simplify this management process and reduce your team’s administrative burden.
Yes, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 are fully compatible. They share a common structure (the High Level Structure, or HLS), which makes it easier to integrate them into a unified management system.- ISO 9001 focuses on quality management
- ISO 27001 targets information security
👉Together, they enablethe alignment of performance, customer satisfaction, and security. This provides a coherent framework, particularly for companies with high standards for quality and data protection.
A mock audit is a dress rehearsal before the official certification audit. Conducted by an independent external auditor, it replicates the actual conditions of the certification audit, but has no bearing on whether you receive your certificate.
In practice, the auditor reviews your quality management system (QMS)—documentation, processes, and on-the-ground practices—and conducts interviews with your teams, exactly as a certification auditor would.
At the end, a closing meeting is held to present the findings: strengths, areas for attention, and non-conformities to be addressed before the big day.The mock audit is optional, but it serves three key purposes: objectively measuring your level of compliance, identifying the final gaps to be addressed, and preparing your teams for the audit experience to alleviate stress on the actual audit day.
There is no such thing as a “good” or “bad” certification body: all those operating in France are accredited by COFRAC (the French Accreditation Committee), which ensures that the certificates they issue are of equal value.
The choice is therefore based on other criteria. The most recognized organizations in France are AFNOR Certification, Bureau Veritas, DEKRA, SGS, LNE, Intertek, and SOCOTEC. Some have historically been more active in specific sectors (manufacturing, services, construction, etc.): make sure the organization you choose has proven experience in your field of activity.
Also compare rates, auditor availability, and the quality of customer service. If you plan to pursue other certifications in the future (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.), some organizations, such as LNE, offer combined audits to optimize costs. Finally, if your clients or contractors have a preference for or require a specific organization, this is a decisive factor that should not be overlooked.
Implementing ISO 9001 requires management commitment and the appointment of a quality manager or project leader. Depending on the size of the company, several departments may be involved (operations, HR, sales, IT, etc.).
Time must be allocated to bringing processes into compliance, training teams, and documenting practices. External support ( from a consultant or training organization) may also be considered to accelerate implementation and avoid errors.
Team engagement depends on clearly communicating the objectives and benefits of ISO 9001. It is essential to demonstrate how certification can simplify their work and improve their daily lives rather than adding constraints.
Organizing training sessions, gathering feedback, and incorporating it into the process helps foster buy-in. Highlighting best practices and recognizing efforts also helps reduce resistance.
FeelAgile supports you throughout your ISO 9001 certification process to help your teams navigate the change.
Attempting an ISO 9001 implementation on your own risks wasting time, energy, and motivation along the way. An expert consultant provides you with an accurate assessment of your gaps from the start, structures the project around realistic milestones, and translates the standard’s requirements into concrete actions tailored to your specific context.
The support also includes audit preparation, training for your teams, and facilitating management reviews, because a QMS is only valuable if it is truly lived out internally.
On the business side, ISO 9001-certified companies see an average increase of 4% in revenue and 7% in exports. Certification is also required in many public and private tenders, making it a concrete growth driver
